SHOP: A Shop, offering pots, potting material, fertilizers, insecticides, etc.

EXCURSIONS: Occasional excursions are also arranged.
Each member also becomes affiliated to the South African Orchid Council,
thereby accrueing the following benefits:
The main objectives of the South African Orchid Council are
* to foster
and promote the cultivation and botany of orchids
* to promote the
conservation of indigenous species
* to appoint and supervise the training of
Orchid Judges
* to recognise and award clones of horticultural merit
* to
publish the yearbook ORCHIDS SOUTH AFRICA to make known such awards, as well as
to publish work of a scientific, conservationary or horticultural nature
pertaining to the cultivation and botany of orchids.
* to offer access to National Shows, Conferences,
Symposiums, to a National Slide Library; to the sale of books and
publications on orchid growing, specially imported from overseas for the
benefit of members
By-LawsArticle 4. Membership
4.1 Membership of the Group is subject to the submission to the Committee and approval of an application form, signed by the applicant, proposer and seconder, accompanied by the necessary fees as determined by the committee.
4.2 The application fees, annual subscriptions and other levies are determined for the various categories of membership including single membership, family, scholar, student (Full time) and commercial-membership.
4.3 All subscriptions become due and payable on a date determined by the committee. Failure to pay subscriptions timeously, exposes a member to immediate suspension.
4.4 An ordinary member may, on recommendation of the committee and by a two thirds majority, at an Annual general meeting, be elected as an honorary life-member. Such a member is then entitled to membership of the Group for life, without further payment of subscriptions.
9.1. Membership fees are determined annually by the Committee.
9.2. Membership fees are to be payed annually before or on the 31 December.
9.3. New members joining before or on 31 August pay full membership fees for the year. New members joining from 1 September pay the following year's membership fee on joining.
12. NEW MEMBERS.
12.1. An appointed Committee member will inform all new members regarding the activities of the Society.
12.2. Society badges and name plates will be available at a cost, on request from the Treasurer.
12.3. A copy of the Constitution and By-laws of the society will be supplied to each new member on joining.
12.4. The Committee reserves the right to expel or terminate the membership of any member on condition that valid reason/s can be shown that the member, for whatever reason, has become a liability or a risk to the society.
