Tygerberg Orchid Group
Welcome to the website for The TYGERBERG ORCHID GROUP (TOG).
We are an orchid society active in the Northern Suburbs of the Cape Town Metropole, Western Cape, South Africa.
Established in 1985, we have become known for the wonderful Orchid Shows we put on in Autumn and Spring. With a dedicated group of members, who have invested years in growing some truly spectacular, and some rare Orchids, these shows are truly a must-see for anyone with an interest in the most excotic, beautiful and captivating family in the natural plant world!
This Website has been designed to provide all those interested with the necessary information concerning our orchid society, as well as feedback on our monthly meetings, and bi-annual orchid shows, rather than offering advice on how to grow orchids, as there is a wealth of information available on the Web concerning this.
We would like to invite any and all interested in the fascinating world of orchids to join us on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at the Bellville Library at 19:00, where we have our monthly meetings.
Meetings generally comprise an introduction with the necessary notifications (if applicable). Different lectures (frequently accompanied by slide shows) provides a relaxed environment for beginners and enthusiasts alike to learn more about Orchids. Come and join us at our plant table, where our members bring their prized orchids for judging, and talk with members over a hot cup of tea or coffee.
Don't forget to enter the raffle - you might go home with one (or more) beautiful and healthy orchids sponsored by our members!
Also remember that there is a library available for members, with a wonderful selection of interesting material to choose from, as well as an orchid shop (information and directions available at the meeting).
Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, 11 August 2009.
We will be updating this site over time with feedback from our meetings, and interesting news from our members.
